Levitra is a popular erectile dysfunction (ED) medication of the phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor (PED5) class of medications. Bayer, GlaxoSmithKline and Schering-Plough developed the ED drug, but as of 2005 Bayer has retained full rights. Levitra is very similar to the popular ED drugs Viagra and Cialis but much closer to Viagra than the latter.
Levitra Functions and Traits
As a PED5 Inhibitor, Vardenafil functions by relaxing the muscles and forcing more blood into the penis in order for an erection to be obtained or maintained. ED can be defined by the inability to obtain or maintain an erection or in some cases the inability to obtain or maintain a full and ridged erection.
The ED drug Levitra, like all similar PED5’s, functions by binding nitric oxide to the guanylate cyclase receptors thereby increasing cGMP levels. This creates a smooth relaxation of the muscle and creates a pathway for increased blood flow.
While Levitra is very similar to Viagra and Cialis it is more closely related to Viagra with the only difference being the position of a nitrogen atom and the addition of an ethyl group rather than methyl group. The slight alteration gives Levitra a slightly longer active life than Viagra but still much shorter than Cialis.

Effects of Levitra
The effects of Levitra are very straightforward, remedying erectile dysfunction in men who have a blood flow issue. Levitra will not remedy a libido issue. If libido is the issue the individual may need to have his hormone levels checked. If the issue is blood flow and not hormone related, sexual stimulation is still required for the medication to work but assuming stimulation is provided the blood flow issue should be remedied in most cases. Some data has also suggested that Vardenafil may also aid in preventing premature ejaculation. Some data has also suggested that penis rigidity is greater with Levitra than Viagra; however, data shows that this tends to be more individualistic than anything else.
Side Effects of Levitra
The side effects of Levitra are both dose and genetic dependent. Some men may experience side effects and others will not. The presence of side effects is very difficult to predict. If side effects of Levitra occur, especially severe, the individual may find more success with another PED5 inhibitor. Changing medications will often remedy the issue, but in other cases the use of a PED5 may not be right for the individual. The side effects of Levitra may include:
Vision Disturbances
Nausea
Vomiting
Hypotension (low blood pressure)
Back Pain
Tachycardia (high resting heart rate)
Joint Pain
Sore Muscles
Stomach Cramps
Rash or Itching
Sudden Hearing Loss
Most of the above side effects of Levitra while possible will not affect most users of the ED drug. In rare cases, the individual may experience erections post sexual activity that do not go away and may need to seek out medical attention.
Levitra Administration
Levitra (the actual name brand) is found in a round orange tablet form with the word Bayer appearing twice on one side, once vertically and once horizontally and the dosing strength listed on the other side. The ED medication is available in 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg and 20mg forms. The drug may be taken with or without food and is to be taken 1-2 hours prior to sexual activity.
Availability of Levitra
Levitra is widely available through most pharmacies around the globe both retail and online. Many compounding pharmacies also make their own generic versions of Vardenafil. As with Viagra and Cialis, Levitra has also found its way into the market of research chemical labs, online suppliers of oral liquid medications that are not controlled substances. Levitra normally cost $10-$15 per 10mg tab retail but will be cheaper if purchased in generic form.
Buy Levitra Online
You can buy Levitra online from numerous online pharmacies that will honor a prescription, but you must have a prescription to make such a purchase. You can also buy Levitra online from a research chemical lab without a prescription but only for research purposes. Research labs that offer non-controlled medications exist in the U.S. in a gray area of the law. It is imperative that you understand the law as it pertains to where you live before you make any purchase.
Levitra Reviews
Levitra is an excellent ED medication and most users will find it very similar to Viagra. When comparing Levitra to Viagra, in terms of which one to pick, it will almost always boil down to individual preference. You may have to try both at different times to find which one works best for you. The same can be said of Cialis, although because Cialis carries such a long active life, 36-48 hours, it is somewhat in a class of its own.
